Almost here...

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Well, I'm on here, but had a problem with Semagic on Insane Journal. I'll have to try and figure it out tomorrow. Was able to do a multiple post in LJ and have it go to GJ, but not IJ. Luckily I don't update enough to cause myself too much of a headache. It's getting late and it's too hard to think right now.

iPod-converting books into iPod notes

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
I came across this utility before I went to dog-sit on Friday night. It was a last minute thing where the lady doesn't have a computer. She has tv, but not having really watched much tv in the last two years, I wanted my computer. Okay, yes, it's an addiction, dependency..whatever! Anyway..I had some regular books to read, but I wanted to read my HP fan fiction stories, and I wasn't happy about not having them. I saved one as a text file and moved it to my iPod notes folder, but evidently it only holds so much per "notepage".

The rest is behind the cut (hopefully!). Someone let me know if screws up!

Smoking Ban starting

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Fort Wayne's smoking ban starts Friday. I live in a small town just outside there but work in the Fort. Technically, I guess I'm actually not allowed to smoke in my apartment, but after all these years, it's not enforced. My apartment might smell better, but I like to smoke while reading fan fiction. Go figure! I have no intention of standing outside my doorway everytime I light up. I have too many stories and messages to get through and little enough time.

My little town is opting to let bars and restaurants decide for themselves. I'm sure the major idea is to get Fort Wayne's clientele. Today, my boss and I were smoking like fiends since we won't be able to in the office anymore. We'll probably take turns sneaking out the back door and hiding behind the shed in the alley! He's starting hypnotism tomorrow to stop. I should to, but I actually have very few vices...no really, it's true! I really never drink alcohol since I started having migraines after just one or two. No point in getting a hangover before you actually pass out.

Sunny days!

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
What a beautiful day we had here! The sky stayed blue all day (or until I got off work at 5pm), it was in the low '70s, and none of those 30+ mph winds. So wonderful. Of course, it was 33 when I left for work with a cardigan and winter coat on. I rolled my coat up and put it in my bag when I left work so I wouldn't look like a complete dork. By the time I started driving home, I noticed it getting cloudier. As I left mom's (they are leaving for Oklahoma tomorrow) with my "meals-on-wheels", the whole sky was covered in clouds and it was sprinkling. It's mid-50's until Friday when it's supposed to be sunny and '60s again.

Happy Birthday Grandma! )

Harry dominating Lucius is a dream. Thanks to [info]florida_minxie for making it come true. With I Am Here (my pink satin fetish) and now The Thrill of Expectation, I'm in heaven!

Blue skies, no boss or customers, and wicked readings...this is turning out to be the best Friday ever! Now if only 5pm would come quickly...so I could too!

Ugh...winter is back..

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
I spoke too soon about the warm weather. It went from 77 yesterday to 44 with a wind chill of 36 right now. It poured on and off today with vicious winds. Even the dj on the radio mentioned how people went from happy go-lucky callers yesterday to crabby whiners today. I certainly felt less than civil myself.

I'm crushing on Apolo Anton Ono now. After seeing him in that suit and pink tie, I couldn't help imaging what an older Harry Potter might look like. That pink tie made me think of Harry in his lingerie again. I'd get a real life, but I'm liking my little fantasy one much more.

Anyone notice anything weird with FF? I have it sorted by update date and the dates are mixed up...not in order. The second page showed 3/28 updates while the first page showed earlier dates along with 3/28. No, I didn't have anything better to do than check this out! LOL!

Guess it's time to let the dogs out again. Too many pig ears were eaten and now there is much flatulence going on with them. It's going to be a long night! Hope some of you are still having an early summer. Just glad I didn't decide to pack all summer work clothes for the week! Ta!

Oh, the temps have been so nice lately! I had to turn on the air conditioner, but only because the two sheepdogs I'm watching breathe way too heavy at night and keep waking me up. I hope the warm weather is staying, but knowing Indiana, I have my doubts. I've heard we might drop from the highs in the '70s back to '40s again. I like the warmth, but it's cloudy and humid already. The boss propped the front door open yesterday for some air. One of the window installers quit last week and another guy was really upset last night and vented to me. He's talking of quitting also. That makes three of us. I'll probably hold out until the end of April. When I hired on, it was with good intentions of staying for a long while. That is what the boss wanted also, though I am beginning to see his reasoning. Coming in late, leaving early, not pushing his two elderly salesmen (who wait for appointments to come to them), and not wanting to really deal with the business anymore seems to be his world now. He complains about dumping his personal money into the business, but doesn't do much else. I'm sure he won't be happy when I give my decision to leave, but at $9/hr and no benefits at all, I might as well do something else without dealing with cranky customers. I've got so much dog-sitting coming up and with my car paid off, my bills aren't what they used to be. Or could it be that I miss that year that I didn't work...just dog-sat and read slash? Hmmmm...

Once again, I just wanted to send my love to [info]florida_minxie for I Am Here. Her Pretty Little Slut series is one of my faves, but I love a dominant Harry. It was the perfect present and I was very grateful for her wonderful piece of writing. I appreciate it more than I can say. [info]florida_minxie, my donation for HPQFAC has been made. It was a privilege to sponsor you.

Thank you for my first virtual gift! Believe me, the pleasure is mine. You've given me hours of happiness (especially at work...*snicker*) with your wonderful writing. I'm glad that I can show my support in some small way. I wish I had a pinkie's worth of the talent that you and my other favorite authors have. Of course, if I had to write stories, it would cut into my reading time. I cannot have that! Cheers, darling! Have a wonderful weekend!

Ai No Kusabi and You Tube

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
So far I've spent the day watching Ai No Kusabi videos on You Tube. djBlondie174 has posted it in two parts. The first half is dived into 5 parts and the second half is 6 parts. Here is the start of Ai no Kusabi OAV 1 1/5. Others have posted videos made up of parts of the anime and songs. After reading volume 1 of Taming Riki by Kira Takenouchi online, I became a member and got the first and second volume in book form. I've been wanting to see some of the anime that her stories were based on. I'm glad people are posting them.

I can hear the Daytona 500 in the other room. I keep popping in to see how Dale Jr is doing, but don't care enough to leave the computer that is in the bedroom. I think he's in 12th with about 128 to go. Racing...boy smut...racing..boy smut...yep, light up another cigarette, pop open a can of Dr. Pepper and watch boy smut.

Just trying to enjoy today. Last night I left where I was dog-sitting about 10:30pm. They flew into Indy, called and said I could leave. I gave the dog a kiss, a pat on the head and couldn't get out the door fast enough. I just wanted to be someplace familiar (even if it's dad's house). Colored my hair today...well, that's about as far as I've gotten on my list of Sunday things to do. I need to remember to make out the checks for mom's utilities since they were due Saturday. Otherwise, I'm trying not to thing about Monday and that four-letter word "work" and am going back to my video watching. Hope all is well.

Happy Valentine's Day to you all!

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Happy Valentines Day!

Thank you for the Valentinrs that I received. It was especially nice pulling them up after shoveling out 2' drifts from the driveway.

I'm glad I didn't put it off any longer. I'm back in my sweats and relaxing for the rest of the day. I heard we only got 7" here, but the winds were so bad that the drifts are huge. There is a van parked in the driveway next to my car and since the garage door is broke and I'm parked outside, I felt it was only necessary to clean out around and behind *my* car. My body is screaming right now. Thank goodness I usually live in an apartment and wouldn't normally have to do this kind of work! LOL! My idiot boss called me this morning to see if I'd cleaned the driveway. Duh! It wouldn't matter since I wasn't even going to attempt to go in today. He was complaining how the town he lives in, south of us, got hit harder. Whoopee shit..he's got a frigging plow and blower and a big honking truck. As the owner, he can go in and make sure everything is okay before sending me in. I'm sure he won't show until later in the morning.

I spent all of yesterday in my p.j.'s surfing stories and journals and am back to the same now that the driveway and sidewalk is clear. Roscoe, the dog I'm sitting for, is snoring on the couch beside me. He's having a hard time with the snow due to it being so deep. It's hard to squat and pee in a 2-3' snow drift! He also wants me to go out and play with the soccer ball with him. Sorry doggie. I'm done with snow for the day.
At least the sun is out and it's all blue sky. They had talked about more snow until tonight, but guess it went over to Ohio.

I'm trying to keep up with news about my two boyfriends, David Beckham and Dale Earnhardt Jr. Last I heard, Dale Jr, is still in contract negotiations with his wicked stepmother and Becks is coming to the US (unfortunately with his stick-wife, Posh Spice), but at least I'm seeing more ads in our magazines with him. He's just a nice juicy piece of meat for me to gnaw on!

Take care everyone and hugs and kisses to [info]kcstories and [info]florida_minxie. You know why! Also a special Happy Valentine's Day to [info]enchanted_jae for the sweet H/D stories that kept me busy yesterday.

Freakin' Snow

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Okay, this morning I realized what it would be like to be rich...except for having to drive to work. We got some heavy snow last night and, with my tires, I was dreading coming to work. The dogs woke me up at 5am to go out (alarm goes off at 6am), and what to my wondering eyes did appear...a guy in a pickup cleaning the driveway out. And I mean cleaning it ALL off. The whole thing was spotless and he even cleaned the road from my driveway to the end of the street (both lanes) and up to the exit to the main road. I noticed as I was driving out the neighborhood that mine was the only driveway and road that was clean. My road was only clean from my driveway to the exit. The owner of the house must have hired someone to handle his house exclusively or something. On the other hand, I nearly ended up in a ditch many times. With the winds and drifting, most of the four lane roads were down to two with people driving straight down the middle. My tires are less than two years old, but they are shit. I have a Toyota Rav4 and was staying way behind the cop in front of me, but had a stupid pickup tailgating me most of the way. Why are people so fucking stupid? It took almost an hour to make a 30 minute drive. I was so tempted to call my boss at his home and tell him to forget it. We don't have much going on today, so maybe he'll be very late and leave early and I can surf all day. I'm hoping we don't get much more snow today because the drive at 5pm is horrendous enough when it's dry and with my wheels spinning at every intersection, it's going to be even worse.

Glad to be here early though since I'm off to read my flist journals. Today's office temp was 54 degrees. Whooee! A heat wave compared to yesterday's! Got an undershirt, sweater, cardigan, and coat on with the space heater running under the desk. Wish I was in Florida with my dad right now!

Cold and cranky!

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
I hate my job. That's no secret, but really, coming into the store in the mornings to find the heat is not often working makes me mad. If it's working, it's usually about 65 when I come in. Usually it's been 55-58. We had a wicked weekend of winds and this morning it was 48 inside. I reset the circuit breaker twice and now it's up to 49. I have a sweater over my shirt and my coat on along with a desk heater trying to thaw my ankles out. My boss comes in after 9am and takes lunch and usually leaves before 4pm. Mondays are bad enough without this shit. Thank goodness I stopped for cigarettes this morning. I need them to defrost my fingertips! Plus I'm dogsitting in the fancy gated community with two sheepdogs in a WONDERFUL house! Whoever decorated it made it so homey for being such a big expensive house. Most of the rich houses I sit in are kind of cold, but this is very warm and the furniture and colors are so warm and comfy. I wish I was over there now cuddled in bed again.

Got a call from my dad's sister this weekend. Seems like my great uncle's daughter and her husband won $5.4 million in the Oregon lottery. AAAAK! What wouldn't I do for that, especially this morning! I definitely think I may be looking into a new job soon. This guy hoped I'd be here long term, but the pay and conditions of the store makes it very difficult for me to justify the wage he's paying. Especially when he complains that he isn't making much money, but has a couple of houses and his own small plane. He doesn't bother working the whole day and depends on two guys who work from home to do the sales. I'm not a sales person, and have no intention of being one without more money, unless I can work at Border's or something, which I wouldn't mind. Sitting here watching grocery carts make their way across the parking lot and listening to my boss's stupid stories and religious (not!) rhetoric makes me want to hurl. I think I'm also mad because of the weather we had yesterday put me off driving 30+ minutes to go to dad's and set up the vcr for Dresden Files yesterday. Now I have to see when it's on again. vent..vent..vent..crap..crap..hate fucking Mondays!

Rec: The Basket Case HP/DM

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
I ran across this story today on FF (at work, I might add), and then found the NC-17 version posted on the author's LJ. The story is The Basket Case by [info]grey_hunter.

Summary: Draco Malfoy, age 24, living his life in well-earned comfort and respectability with his wife Pansy Malfoy in his home Malfoy Manor, Denialland. The only thing he lacks in his life is an heir. That’s when reality bites him in the arse. HP/DM slash, mpreg, stupidity

It's 41 chapters long with an epilogue and is completed (always a plus). I enjoy HP stories with different male pairings, including with Severus, but Sev is a dick in this and gets his just desserts. There are some bits I found hysterically funny, many having to do with Snape.

This is the first story from [info]grey_hunter that I've read and I'll definitely be checking out the others.

Boring stuff for Tuesday

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
So far, so good. We lucked out again as far as the weather. It was lightly snowing last night when I took the dogs out, but not enough to stick anywhere. The mini floods of rainwater in the drive turned to ice which isn't surprising considering temps were in the 20s. The roads were all clear with no ice having settled, which made the drive in very nice! They are still talking a chance of snow and low around 16 tonight. The dogs will probably leave me nice presents on the floor when I get home. They didn't care for the crunchy, cold grass and most of them decided to forego their morning potty break. The owners are flying in from Orlando sometime today. Hopefully it is after I get there so I can clean up any presents on the floor, but at this point, I'll just be glad to get home...or to my parents' home anyway. They won't be back until March, so the food, heat, tv, computer, and garage are all mine.

Spent the morning trying to get warm. Cheap bastard landlord where I work still hasn't fixed the heat. It's usually around 55 when I come in and I have to reset the circuit breaker. Luckily I have heater under my desk. Boss has an appointment to meet a customer in the town where he lives and then has some 4 hour seminar on lead paint or some rot, so I'll be answering the phone and reading LJ entries and fanfiction most of the day. I'm sure glad it's the slow season here. I don't know what I'll do when it gets busier and I have to actually work. I get the shivers thinking about it.

Tried to watch the Golden Globes, but the dogs are all jealous of each other and spent most of the time trying to get my attention. I knew I should have taped it. I prefer taping it so I can fastforward through most of it anyway. I just want to see who wins, but most of the speeches are too boring for me. I did see Brangelina. They looked nice. Leonardo always looks good. I've got the rock station cranked, pop and cigarettes on hand (yeah, we still sneak smokes at the desk until the law actually passes around here), and the fan fics ready. Have a great day, y'all!
